Community Health Nursing

Community Health Nursing is essential particularly at this point in time because it maximizes the health status of individuals, families, groups and the community through directly involving them in their own health.  This thematic area of the department will bring to forefront the important aspects of community participation in its own health planning, implementation and assessment. The department is to facilitate the learners at different entry levels to know how to partner and collaborate with the community in needs and risk identification, planning for commensurate action, implementing the plan, evaluation, research and learning for future action. The department will produce nurses who can keep abreast with the ever changing health needs of the 21st Century society by scoping teaching around health promotion, illness prevention, community health measurement, leadership, research-innovation-evaluation-learning tetrad, health education, community empowerment, advocacy and clinical care.
